EASA Simulator terminology and definitions
Different
FSTD (Flight Simulation Training device) types:
- Full Flight Simulators or FFS (aircraft type specific). Full size replica of a type
or make, represent airoplane in both ground and flight operations, out of the deck
view visual system, force cuing motion system.
- Flight Training Devices or FTD (aircraft type specific). Full size replica of the
types instruments and (open or closed) flight deck equipment, No requirements for
a force cuing motion or visual system.
- Flight and Navigation Procedures Trainer or FNPT(generic devices). Flight deck or
cockpit environment representing a class of aerocrafts.
- Basic Instrument Training Device. BITD. A device which represents the student pilot‘s
station of a class of aeroplanes. It may use screen based instrument panels and
springloaded flight controls.
